چکیده
Brucine. 2.3-Dimethoxystrychnidin-10-one was extracted from the seeds of Strychnos nux-vemica. L as described earlier (3,7). The crude alkaloid was crystallized from ethyl alcohol. melting at 178°C, The iso'lated cockroach heart technique described by Krijgsman et at. (2) was employed for the present studies. In all the experiments only adult insects were used. Sexual differences and age factor were not taken into consideration. Test solutions were prepared by dissolving the chemicals in distilled water wt/vol. except brucine, which was dissolved in acetone, The strength of the test compounds were represented in terms of simple dilutions. Each experiment was repeated at least for five times and the average was takEn to plot the graph.
